This design for the VP announcement, although fully developed, was killed the day it was to launch. The basic fear was that the random silhouettes may or may not have looked like actual candidates. The campaign was not trying to make any hints.

Notes

Although this Obama banner did not make the cut, the other version of the concept did very well for the campaign.

The animation style I developed for the bright white glow fading to the photo of Obama became a problem during development on this design. It became clear that depending on the photo, the style would create a halo around Obama’s head. I had to start watching out that I wasn’t illustrating any “messiah” visuals.
